Global warming and devastating hurricanes hitting one after the other reveal the planet earth in distress. A new case involving a teenager in possession of an unexplained Glock pistol promises to change all that. Then again perhaps the point of the novel is to show us how banal life is when one cannot find anything meaningful beyond oneself. My favorite is one that blows up lights as he passes underneath them. This volume concludes, as did its predecessor, with a long poem by Wade German, one of the most dynamic figures in a remarkable renaissance of weird poetry inspired by the work of Lovecraft and his colleagues.
